Loretta Edna Buchan was born on September 8, 1939, to Elena Maria and Miguel N. Zabalveitia Sr. in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Loretta passed away Sunday evening, March 19th, in the comfort of her home with her loving husband Tom and her three puppies Cindy, Daisy, and Rosie at her bedside. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and her son Donnie R. Young. She has one living brother Miguel Zabalveitia, 2 daughters, Roberta Jean Schuster and Sandra Ann Arzdorf. Loretta was a long-standing member of the Chadbourn Spanish Gospel Mission that her father Miguel, helped build and is now known as the Chadbourn Community Church. It is the last standing building in the historic Conejos neighborhood. Loretta worked for several years at the Broadmoor Hotel as wait staff. She also worked at the Antler's Hotel as a waitress and cashier. Later, she became a floral designer and a caregiver for elderly people. Loretta was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and sister. She was laid to rest on Thursday, March 30th at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life service starting at 11 am, on April 23rd at the Chadbourn Community Church, 402 S. Conejos St., Colorado Springs, Co. Donations to the Chadbourn Community Church can be made in her name in lieu of flowers. She will truly be missed!!
