Marianne Craft Obituary

Marianne Roberts Craft passed on May 8,2005 at home with her family. She was born and raised in Ashfield, Ma to the union of Dorothy and Gilbert Roberts on September 25,1943. She married her high school sweetheart, William J. Craft, on June 22,1963 and one week later they left together for the "wild west". They settled in Laramie, Wy while Bill continued his education. After job moves to Denver and Grand Junction they settled down in Colorado Springs in 1967. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1965 she never let it slow her down. The mother of two wonderful children, Timothy and Heather Ann, she worked hard to make sure that they experienced what life had to offer. From skiing and swimming lessons to backpacking and music, she involved the family and herself to the fullest. In addition to being a wife and mother, Marianne worked for many years at the Ski Haus. She later moved on to ITT Industries where she worked on "Dew Line" payroll until she took a disability retirement. Marianne was a caring and loving person who touched everyone she met. She organized the "neighborhood ladies" monthly luncheon, supported her husband's passion for Boy Scouting and took pride in hosting a neighborhood new year's soup and bread get together. Marianne enjoyed traveling and even when she was on dialysis she enjoyed a motor trip to Massachusetts and a long trip to California to be with the grandchildren, the lights of her life, Jared and Timmy Jr. Marianne is survived by her husband, Bill; their son, Timothy; his wife, Michelle; and their sons: Jared and Timmy Jr.; their daughter, Heather and her husband, Earl. She also leaves behind her mother, Dorothy Harrison Roberts; sister, Judy Provost ; and her brother, Russell Roberts. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert and her brother, Gilbert Jr. "Don't weep for me, don't be sad, I had a long and happy life; I beat the odds." In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Sunnyrest Health Care Facility at 2400 E Cache La Poudre, Colorado Springs, Co. 80909. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Services will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Craft,Tim, & Heather,

I am so sorry for your great loss. The times I saw Mrs. Craft after I moved away from Querida I was always so amazed at her positive attitude and strength no matter what she was going through. I was planning on going to the service, but one of the babies got sick and had to see the doctor that afternoon. My thoughts were with you that day and I so much wanted to be there. My prayers are with you all. Love, Faith
