Muriel Pope Obituary

Muriel Hannah Pope, fondly known as "Ma," "Momma," and "Nana," age 92, went to be with our Lord early this past Sunday morning, November 18, 2012. She was born on October 24, 1920 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Herman and Ada Nitsche. She came to Colorado in 1947, then met and married Richard Paul Rains on March 27, 1948. They had two children, Douglas and Susan. After his death in 1964, she worked as a secretary for Palmer High School. She met and married Richard Farner Pope on December 29, 1967, who after 42 years of marriage preceded her in death. Muriel was a Christian woman who always put God and family first in her life. She loved to sew, cook, dance, and take care of her loved ones. She was a selfless, giving, and generous woman. She is survived by her children: Douglas (Linda) Rains, Susan (Lee) Sorensen; her five grandchildren; and her six great grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she loved them with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all of them. A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and services will be held in her honor at 10:00 a.m. this Friday, November 23, 2012 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2511 North Logan Avenue. A reception will follow, and afterwards there will be a procession to Evergreen Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Please come join in remembering the life and spirit of this beautiful woman. To Doug and Susan and their families. How sorry I am to hear of your Mom's passing but the wonderful thing is she is no longer suffering. She is now in her real home. May God give you the comfort that He only can give. God Bless all of you.
