Nadine Winter Obituary

Nadine Pearl

February 10, 2026

Nadine Pearl Winter, age 99, passed away on February 10, 2026. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for 62 years and was formerly a resident of Kansas City, Missouri.
Nadine was born on March 8, 1926, to Frank Stickley and Nellie (Bell) Stickley in Geddes, South Dakota. She attended Geddes High School and graduated in 1943. On June 14, 1946, she married Ray A. Winter in Sturgis, South Dakota, after his return from WWII. Their only child, Steven L. Winter, was born in September 1950.
Nadine worked as a bank-by-mail teller at First National Bank. In addition to being a homemaker, she was fond of craft work, appliqueing, and crocheting. She enjoyed traveling, and after retirement she and her husband bought a fifth wheel trailer and wintered in Florida and Arizona. She was a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church and enjoyed many church activities, Ray's singing in the choir, and participating in Naomi Fellowship.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Verna Straka (2004); and her husband in September 2011 after they shared 65 years of marriage. Sadly, her son, Steve, passed away in December 2021. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dru Winter; her former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Barbara Winter, Barbara's husband, David Carpenter, their daughter, Shelby Carpenter (who she considered her granddaughter); and several nieces and nephews.
She held a special place in her heart for her son's close friends, Dave Oehring, Glen Limmer and Stephen Sletta, her many friends and neighbors in Holiday Village, and the support and visitations from her church family.
Dru, Barbara, David, and Shelby would like to send special thanks to all those who sent messages and well wishes ahead of her 100th birthday in March.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 5, 2026, at 2:00PM at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Nadine will be laid to rest at the Shrine of Remembrance.
Memorials in Nadine's name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St., Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
