Nancy Dwight Obituary

Nancy Bartron was born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Julia Simpson Bartron and Harold Arthur Bartron. Her father, one of the pioneers in aviation history, was an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Her mother was a descendant of passengers on the Mayflower. Nancy's young life was spent moving with her family from post to post. After high school she attended UCLA, and then moved to Panama while her brother, Robert Simpson Bartron, attended West Point Military Academy. Nancy married Army officer John Pavick in 1939, and with him had a daughter, Julia Bartron Pavick. When the marriage dissolved several years later Nancy brought Julia to California. On a blind date arranged by her brother, Nancy met pilot and artist Donald Stearns Dwight. It was love at first sight. After only three weeks of courtship, they became engaged. They were married for fifty-six years and had one daughter, Jennifer Dwight. Nancy was a beautiful, colorful, spirited and extroverted woman with tremendous vitality and an unflagging sense of humor. She had great style, flare and daring. She loved to sew and made her own clothes. She became a Life Master in bridge. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. Her family cherishes their memories of her unrestrained love of life. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Dwight; her grandchildren: Julia Larkins Gardner, Stuart Bartron Larkins, Laurel Brandstetter and Julian Dwight Kearns; and her great grandchildren: Jessica Lane Walsh, John Joseph Gardner, Charles Stuart Larkins, Margaret Mary Larkins, Joshua Michael Stuart Gardner, Rider Francis Brandstetter and Josie Love Gardner. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at The Chapel of Our Saviour, 8 Fourth Street in Colorado Springs, on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
