Nellie Franklin Obituary

Nellie B. "Billie" Franklin, age 92, a lifelong resident of the Colorado Springs area, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Sunny Vista Health Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker. Nellie Blanch Bean was born on September 21, 1913 in Florence, Colorado to John and Nellie (Pooley) Bean. She married Albert Thomson and later married Roy Franklin and then married his brother, Ben Franklin. "Grandma Bill" is survived by her son, Charles Thomson of Colorado Springs; a daughter, Dixie (husband, Chuck) Jones of Palmer Lake; six grandchildren: Michael Thomson, Mark (wife, Mary) Thomson, Mike (wife, Beth) Jones, Eddie (wife, Charlene) Jones, Terri Jones, and Deanne (husband, Mark) Ladefoged; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Rochelle Thomson and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.

Billie was the first person we met when we arrived in Colorado Springs December 1941. She introduced us to the Springs and was my very best friend for many years. We did so many things together as young married couples. I have never forgotten the kindness she always showed and the closeness I felt. She will be missed.
