Patricia Cress Obituary

Cress
PATRICIA "PATTY" CRESS
August 6, 1930 December 30, 2020
Patricia "Patty" Cress passed away peacefully at her home in Black Forest December 30, 2020 with her family around her. Patty was born August 6th, 1930 at University Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ruth and Arthur Robertson. Patty's mother Ruth worked as a registered nurse. Her father Arthur was an electrician and a 32nd degree Mason. Her family's very earliest years were influenced by the Great Depression.
She graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis in 1948, and entered Iowa State University in Ames as a freshman that same year and in 1953 graduated from Milwaukee Downer College/Lawrence University.
Patty worked professionally as an occupational therapist in a Boston hospital and later at Glenwood Hills hospital in Golden Valley, MN where she met Dick Cress from Morris, MN. They were married in Minneapolis in 1957.
Dick and Patty moved to Colorado in 1963. In 1973 they built their permanent home in the Black Forest.
In recent years Patty had increasingly spent her time living in Mexico. Mexican culture and Pacific seacoasts became a focus of her interests.
Patty served as the Regional Director for the United Doll Federation of Doll Clubs region 6 (Colorado, Wyoming, Montana) from 1989 to 1992. Patty belonged to the Doll Study Club of Colorado Springs from 1982 to September 2004 and served as president for a time. She remained a Member-at-Large until August 2013. She served as one of the Judges for collectible dolls at the Colorado State Fair in 2012. She rarely missed the national conventions and was well known and loved by the antique and miniature doll community.
Patty will be missed by a great many charitable organizations that she supported. She was a generous and caring person. She did more than write checks to organizations. She put her personal work and effort into causes where she felt a need. Patty created Christmas stockings for the Salvation Army, volunteered for over 20 years at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, and personally delivered carloads of clothes to coastal natives in Sonora, MX.
Patty is survived by her husband Richard and sons Greg and Barry, daughter in law Pam.
Memorial gifts man be made to the following organizations which Patty supported:
Newborn Hope, Defenders of Wildlife, the Audubon Society, Tiger Haven, the Ocean Conservancy, the World Wildlife Fund, St. Labre Indian School, Salvation Army.
Place of interment, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, Colorado Springs
