Patricia Ann "Patty" Young

Patricia Young Obituary

Patricia Ann Young, "Patty" entered into heaven's gates Saturday, June 4th, 2005. She was born on August 31st, 1952, in Hampton, Virginia. She is remembered and loved dearly by her devoted husband of 33 years, Ted Young Jr.; her proud parents, George and Annie Megilligan; daughter and best friend, Kristyn Ann Young; son, Rick and his wife, CarrieLee Young; eight beautiful grandchildren: Toby, Jaque, Jesse, Maylea, T.J., Angel Joy, Corban and Quinnie; six brothers: Danny, Jerry, Grayson, Glenn, Rick, David; a sister, Suzie; and her beloved Golden Retrievers: Blondie MayBuchert and Goldie Georgianna. Patty lived her life full of joy, laughter and love. She was the best wife, daughter, mom and Gramzy. She spent her time planning family parties, winning at cards, giving gifts and playing with her grandchildren. She was a professional typesetter and everyone knew her as "MacPatty", named after her love for Macintosh Computers. Patty liked sitting in the summer sun and enjoying her husband's "delish" barbequed meals. She often inspired others with "Everything always works out" and "Patience brings good things". She was positive, unselfish, caring and a compassionate woman. She will be greatly missed and treasured in our hearts forever. A private gathering of close family and friends took place at Mountain Wilderness Memorial in Woodland Park, CO. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or the Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue, Inc. PO Box 9628 Denver, CO 80209.

As I sit here thinking about Patty, what comes to mind is what a great legacy she left behind. She will never truly be gone from us because I will always see her imprint in others. Her honesty, loyalty, work-ethic, and concern for others already exudes from those closest to her, Ted, Rick, Kristy, Carrie Lee and all her adorable grandchildren. I am sure that when she met her maker, he said to her, "A job well done, good and faithful servant". I believe God places everyone into your life for a reason, so when I tear up, and

miss her I will dwell upon the positive lessons she taught me, and thank God for placing her into my life.

The day Carrie Lee told me she was marrying into the Young family and moving to Colorado, I just could not imagine my daughter (my baby) and my dear, dear grandchildren in such a far off place.

The first trip I made to Colorado Springs my fears were laid to rest. They now had a wonderful, loving, kind, fun grandmother and mother-in-law to love them (not to mention a wonderful, supportive husband and stepdad in Rick). Oh, how Patty loved them without reserve! The love I saw in the Young family was the kind of love I wanted for my child and grandchildren. I came back to New York with complete peace that everything was going to be okay.

Even though we knew Patty for a very short time we hold her memory very close in heart. Her sickness and death have taken away a woman of love, fun, compassion and great generosity. But we know we will meet again because Jesus is our Savior. The Bible says we will know each other in Heaven and Patty and I have a lot of chatting to do about those wonderful Young/Baker grandchildren.

God bless you George and Annie, Ted, Kristi, Rick, Carrie Lee, grandchildren and family. Patty was a rare gem who will live in our hearts forever. She is dearly missed. Love, Susie and Toby/Mom and Dad T.

To my big sis, Patty. I think about you daily, I still cannot believe that you are not with us anymore. I miss picking up the phone to call and those emails of yours. I will miss seeing you every morning to play cards at mom and dad's, when I'm out there on my vacation. I will miss the movie/pizza night we always had. But I know someday we will be together again. I want to dedicate a poem to you that I found, the author is unknown;

To My Sister "Patty"

Sister is a lovely word, that always brings to mind. Memories of the happiest, and very warmest kind! Thoughts of you bring memories, for through each passing year. You've been the kind of sister, who's especially sweet and dear. If you could read my heart, then you would surely see. With every day that passes by, you still mean more to me.

Till we meet again. I Love You Big Sis.

Dear Patty, you were a wonderful sister and I am going to miss you very much. You were a big reason that I came up to Colorado Springs each summer on vacation. I'll miss those mornings when you would come over to Mom and Dad's and we all enjoyed each other on the patio in the cool mornings. Life sure was great, and having had a beautiful sister like you, life is still great. What wonderful memories I will have for the rest of my days. I miss you and will always love you. Patty was a wonderful person and sister, and we will greatly miss her. But we have complete faith that we will see her again in Heaven. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away". (Rev 21:4) God be with Patty's family and friends while we work through the grief of losing this great soul, but with the knowledge that it is only a temporary separation. I love you Patty.

She was not only our loving mother but she was our dear friend and sister in Christ and we're going to miss her a lot. We spent many hours talking about Jesus and learning about him by reading his word over the past 6 months. This was after she became a Christian in December. She was living sick but free in her heart. "Those to whom the (risen) Son sets free, are free indeed..." We could see that in her life and now Rick and I have hope even with broken hearts that though she will not return to us, we will go to her one day. I can't wait to see her again...

We love you Mom ~
