Paul Butt Obituary

Paul Butt, resident of Colorado Springs, CO, died Saturday June 29, 2013 in a car accident as he was traveling to Ponca City, OK to spend the 4th of July holiday with his family. He was 60 years old. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Ratterman officiating. A burial service will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery immediately following the memorial service. Paul was born November 11, 1952 in Ponca City, OK to Hubert H. and Therese M. Tobin Butt. He grew up in Ponca City, attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1971. He briefly attended St. Edward's Catholic University in Austin and went on to receive a B.A. in Psychology in 1980, a B.S. in Electrical Power Engineering Technology in 1986 and a M.A. in English in 1989 from Oklahoma State University. Paul worked as a Computer Technology Writer for many years in Orlando and Tampa, FL. and in Colorado Springs, CO. He retired from Hewlett Packard in 2012 and was enjoying life as a retiree in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains of Colorado Springs. Paul was the family's go-to computer specialist in the family. Whenever anyone had a computer problem they could call Paul. No matter the time of day or how complicated the problem was, he would patiently work it out. He rebuilt computers for family members who might not otherwise have one or one of good quality. Paul also worked tirelessly to maintain the family home in Ponca City, even after the death of his parents. Paul was passionate about photography and would record family events in pictures and provide photos to family members. He will be missed tremendously. He is survived by five siblings: Mike Butt and spouse, Theresa of Ponca City, OK; Ed Butt and spouse, Mary Lynn (Zoe) of Santa Maria, CA; Tom Butt and spouse, Sharil of Lawrence, KS; Mary Plank of Ponca City, OK; Terri Link and spouse, Jim of Uvalde, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don Butt. The family suggest making a donation in Paul's name to a "PC's for Schools" program in your area, to "Habitat for Humanity" or to your local favorite charity.
