Reed Weimer Obituary

Reed Martin “Marty Weimer, 83, passed from this world on February 3rd, 2010. Marty was born to James and Marguerite Weimer on July 17th, 1926 in Cedarville, Ohio. Marty proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the Naval Air Corps. Marty was an engineer for IBM Corporation for 38 years and loved his work. Marty loved spending time doing things he enjoyed; golfing, competitive bowling, and fishing the waters around the Tampa Bay area and the mountains of Colorado. Marty made many, many friends all along the way and always had a smile and words of wisdom for each of them. What Marty loved most was his precious wife of 58 years, Becky, and the strong, loving family they created together. They were so proud of their family and Marty never missed a chance to tell them so. Marty is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ellen (Richardson) Weimer; three sons, David Weimer and wife Terry of Chipita Park, Colorado; Steven Weimer and wife Marsha of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Robert Weimer of Tampa, Florida; five beautiful grandchildren, Katie, Taylor, Sarah, Nicholas and Michaela, and his brother, Lamar Weimer of Springfield, Ohio. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Marty's name to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903

I'm sorry for your loss. My father and Marty bowled together for many years and I still remember sitting at the bowling alley and listening to Marty tell jokes. He always talked about his children and grandchildren and how proud he was of them. Please tell Becky that the Holbert family sends there love.

My heart goes out to you in this difficult time. Marty was a special guy who always made me feel welcome in his home, never failing to share his enthusiasm for life. He has left quite a legacy that will endure through his family; I am so grateful for the friendship the Weimers have shared with me and my family. Mom sends her love and prayers, too.

To all the Weimers:

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Marty was one of the nicest and sincere people we've ever met and that quality was passed on to his sons! He will be missed but I know there are a lot of memories for you all to hold onto. Let us know if we can help in any way, even if it's a shoulder to cry on. We love you all.

There are many ways to tell the worth of a man, but the best is how he loves and cares for his family. Marty was a great man in many ways, very good at his job, great at sports and games (all you had to do was ask him)and had friends from one end of the county to the other.

All the above pales when compared to how he was loved and cherished by his wife, sons and grandchildren. He will be missed.
