Rev. Leroy Morrison Obituary

Reverend Leroy Morrison was born February 25, 1934 in Coleman, FL to Cornell and Annie Morrison. On March 18, 2015 he was carried home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by one brother Willie James Morrison and a grandson Evan Morrison.

Reverend Morrison served honorably for twenty years in United States Army and obtained the rank of Sargent First Class earning many honors among them the Purple Heart.

He pursued a Purchasing related career introduced to him by the Army; which lead him to The Antlers Hotel where he was employed for many years as Purchasing Agent and ultimately to Purchasing Manager. Until his final retirement in 2012 he was employed by The County Club of Colorado at Cheyenne Mountain Resort.

Being an avid fisherman, Reverend Morrison took every opportunity to as he would say "Go throw out my line". So it was appropriate when he on August 15, 1990, he responded to God's call to the ministry and became a fisher of men. Having a deep and abiding love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he prepared himself to preach it by entering United Theological Seminary and Bible College where he earned a Master of Religious Education Degree.

On July 1, 1954 he married his life partner Venice Earlita Williams and enjoyed 60 years of married bliss. Through this union five children were born, Cheryll (Thomas) Cochran, San Antonio, TX, Darrell Morrison, Baltimore, MD, Karl Morrison, Washington, DC, Tony Morrison, Minneapolis, MN and Robert (Regina) Morrison, Woodbridge, VA, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. All of whom are left to cherish his memory along with his brother Connell Morrison, Jr., Leesburg, FL, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, a host of friends and a loving church family.

To the Morrison family. Words can never the express the sympathy that I have for you in the loss of Rev . Morrison . You opened your home to me back in 1986 when I was stationed at Ft Carson . You were my parents while away from home . Your guidance back in those days had an influence on who I am today. For that I am truly grateful. Though I am many miles away I'm with you in spirit and prayer. May God continue blessing you during this time and the days to come. Mrs. Morrison know that I love you and will keep you in my prayers. Love Malone

To the Morrison Family, Stacey and I offer our deepest condolences during this time of transition. Rev Morrison was truly a man of God that you wanted to spend time with. Stacey sang at your 50th anniversary to God be the Glory. I'm sure you know God is just a prayer away.

Dear Vernice and the Morrison family,
We were so sorry to read of Leroy's passing. He was a wonderful person and a great contributor to the success of The Antlers during his many years in the purchasing department. He will be missed by many and remembered as a warm and friendly co-worker and friend.
Be thankful of all the love and faith he brought to you and your family during his lifetime.
May God bless you.

Mr. Morrison will be missed by all I'm sure, however he left a legacy with all he came in contact with. I only passed him in the halls of Cheyenne Mountain Resort, but always with a smile and "Good Day". A very dedicated, always kind and considerate man. It was my pleasure to know Rev. Leroy Morrison.
