Rex Kinney Obituary

Rex Bruegman Kinney (85) passed away at home on June 26, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred "Mickey Fees" Kinney and 3 children, Sheila Kaye Kinney, Douglas Rex Kinney (Denise Snell) and Randall Dwayne Kinney and 1 sister, JoAnn (Keith) Rihn.

He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Amber Breault, Lauren Kinney, Chris Vallejos, Matt Vallejos and Nick Vallejos. Also surviving are several great grandchildren, Kailey and Jaxon Vallejos, Madyson and Mason Vallejos and Annie Vallejos.

Rex was born in Bloomfield, Nebraska and was the 10th of 12 children born to Charles and Emma Pauline (Bruegman) Kinney. He graduated from Sidney High School, Sidney, Nebraska and after graduation joined the US Navy and served honorably for 2 years. After returning home, he became a Civil Service ammunition inspector for the US Army and spent several tours in Vietnam and Korea; also Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA and Ft. Wingate Army Depot in New Mexico. In this capacity, he assured that any ammunition our military personnel used was safe to use. In 1971, he transferred to NORAD in Colorado Springs, Colorado and remained here for the remainder of his life.

Rex enjoyed working on cars, refinishing furniture and converting houses to real homes for us to live in ... quite the handyman. He was always available for his children.

Upon his request, there will be no funeral or viewing.
