Ronald Dusch Obituary

Ronald E. Dusch, 67, passed away on August 5, 2005, in Colorado Springs following a long, debilitating and courageous battle with throat cancer. His spirit, his faith, and his love of family persevered as he battled the effects of his illness. Ronald was born on January 11, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to Charles and Margaret Emma Dusch, and grew up in Michigan. He enlisted in the Army in 1957. While serving in Germany, he met and married his wife, Edith. Ron and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1968. As a proud and heroic soldier, he served in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, and was highly decorated with honors including a Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with six Bronze Stars and the Bronze Star medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. After retiring from the Army in 1977, Ron entered the Home Improvement business. Ron, with his son Gary, opened the family business, Dutch's Home Improvement, in 1989. Ron is survived by his wife, Edith; two sons, Perry R. (Debra) Dusch, Gary M. (Dawn) Dutch; three grandchildren, Emily, Evan and Nicole, all of Colorado Springs; and his brother, Donald. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary. Ron was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. A generous and giving man, his life was characterized by a charitable heart, always willing to help others. His passing is a loss to all who knew him, especially his family who loved him deeply. The family is grateful to the medical professionals who cared for Ron during his illness and the remarkable caregivers who assisted him during the twilight of his life. All of them helped Ron and the family confront his reoccurring cancer with compassion and respect for human dignity. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2005 at First Church of the Nazarene, 4120 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, (719) 596-5119.
