Ronald Dean Womeldorff, 71, passed away December 16 at a local care facility in Pueblo, Colorado after a short illness.
Ron was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Cynthia (née Roberts) and Raymond Womeldorff.
A graduate of Wasson High School, Ron entered the Air Force and was stationed in Thailand and at Davis-Monthan AFB. He later worked on the DEWLINE in Thule, Greenland. He was trained as an electronics technician and used his skills in the Baker-Nunn satellite tracking system in New Zealand. After nearly 6 years, at the closure of the facility, he transferred to a position at the Ames Research Center in Mountain View California.
Ron came back to Colorado Springs and worked for Honeywell, then Atmel. After Ron retired he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He had a major stroke in 2013 and worked to recover from this event. For the past two years he lived in Pueblo.
Ron enjoyed visiting with friends and family and reading science fiction. He had a great sense of humor and loved to get to know people.
Ron is predeceased by his parents and a son, Bryan. He is survived by his brothers Don and Tom, of Oklahoma; sister Faye, of Oklahoma; sister Ellie, of Divide; daughter Amy, of California; daughter Tamar and son Travis; his niece Della, of Colorado Springs, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private inurnment in California. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA.
