January 17, 2022

Ruth (Hougen) Osbourn passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 17, 2022. Ruth was born on January 3, 1942 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 and attended local schools including Colorado Springs High School and Cheyenne Mountain High School where she graduated in 1960. It was at Colorado Springs High School where she first met her husband, Ron. Ruth and Ron were married on August 3, 1961 in Colorado Springs and were married for 49 years before Ron's passing in 2011. Ruth moved several times during Ron's career in the Navy and settled back home in Colorado Springs following his retirement. She worked as Office Manager for Burson Chiropractic for 28 years before she retired as well. Ruth was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church serving on the Church Board for many years. Ruth was happiest spending time with her family and friends who she always welcomed with her beautiful smile and spirit. She enjoyed attending and supporting the numerous activities that her children, grand children and great grandchildren participated in. Ruth is survived by her son Ron Jr. (Kim), daughter Vicki Maketa (Terry), Grandchildren Katie Stephens (Scott) and Brian Maketa (Morgan) and her Great Grandchildren (Chase, Tyler, Tessa, Remington and Halen) and her Nephew's Randy Hesselberg (Pam), Steve Hesselberg (Leanne) and Jeff Hesselberg (Angie) and their children. Memorial Service will be January 24th at 11:00 at Grace Lutheran Church (1128 E. Boulder St.) followed by a reception at the church.

What a lovely picture of Ruth!

My mother, Darlene Aaland, was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran and her friendship with Ruth was very meaningful to her; they shared a strong faith in the Lord. She held Ruth in high regard and spoke of her often. No doubt there were many in Heaven standing in line to greet Ruth.

My sincere condolences to all of Ruth's loved ones.
