Shelley passed away at home after a dignified battle against cancer at the young age of 67, with cherished husband and her dog by her side, the morning of October 28th, in Fort Collins, CO.
A Colorado Native, Shelley Kerr (Ramsey) was born in Denver, CO, growing up in Colorado Springs, CO, with her loving mother Nancy Kerr and father Jarrold Craig Ramsey, sister Kim and brother Jim across the street from Cheyenne Mountain High School, where she graduated in 1973, as prom queen, talented artist and vocalist. She was a youth member of Broadmoor Community Church.
Shelley graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and earned a Masters of Communications at Colorado State University.
A long-time resident of Fort Collins, CO, she was a real estate agent, communications consultant and actively involved with a variety of community interests. She loved ballroom dance and managed annual balls for "Friends of Traditional Dance." Shelley achieved her BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) by presenting her art work at the 2021 Loveland Sculpture in the Park Show, the largest outdoor juried sculpture event in the country.
Shelley married Dave Cummings, the love of her life, in December 2010. They lead many endeavors including the non-profit Partners of Food Solutions to help food processing in Africa. Their life-long love of playing music with family, friends and the community inspired many others.
She is survived by her loving husband, brother Jim Ramsey (Jayne), and her five nephews Eric Meyer (Carolyn), Patrick Meyer (Emily), Chris Meyer (Kelley), Nick Ramsey, and Kyle Ramsey. Shelley is preceded in death by her parents and sister Kim Ramsey Meyer (Mark).
Shelley's life legacy includes her passion as a bronze sculptor (see www.kerrartworks.com for more info and to support her causes, including the Shelley Kerr Legacy Fund). Shelley became a spokesperson for bladder cancer survival, receiving national recognition at annual symposiums through The Albert Institute. In Oct 2022, her "To Live" sculpture installation at CU Anschutz Medical Center was dedicated to the gifted doctors, care giving staff, and medical institutions that contributed to her quality of life.
