Teri Vogan Obituary

Vogan
TERI ANNE VOGAN
March 3, 1954 February 17, 2021
Teri Vogan, 66, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away February 17, 2021 in Denver, CO.
She was born March 3, 1954 in Denver, CO and adopted by Ed and LaVerne Megel of Colorado Springs.
Teri graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1972 and went on to earn her gemologist designation from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a Bachelors and two Masters Degrees before settling into her lifelong career as a Master Jeweler. Teri began her career at Megel's Jewelry Store before she and her husband eventually opened their own jewelry business, Vogan Jewelry & Engraving in the Bon Shopping Center. Teri specialized in the repair and custom design of countless numbers of jewelry pieces from all over the country including the Radix pins for the U.S. Figure Skating Association that went around the world to champions and Olympians alike. While working as a jeweler, she made time to teach as an adjunct college professor and was proud to have conceived the Vogan Training Center for the Arts that focused on teaching new trades to wounded soldiers and those with disabilities.
Teri was known for her infectious laugh, warm smile, and a fierce love of family; a feeling shared with everyone she knew and those who entered her shop. She was an active member of The Canyon Winds Band where she played first chair flute and loved riding motorcycles as a member of the Women on Wheels motorcycle club.
Only several years ago Teri found her birth family, three of whom were at her side in the end, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her husband and partner of over twenty years, Rege Vogan; her two daughters, Holly Haverkorn and Janelle McNeil; and her grandchildren, Bryce Haverkorn, Winter Haverkorn, and Connor McNeil.
An outdoor service is being planned for the Spring.

I’m so sorry to learn this (June 20, 2021). I knew the Megel family starting in the mid 1960s. I remember her very well. My most sincere condolences to her family.

I stopped in at the shop the other day to express my condolences, but I also want to contribute here. Teri was such an amazing person...there were times when stopping in to have my diamond cleaned and checked was the highlight of my day as the time was filled with lively conversation. I wish you all comfort as you do the hard work of mourning. May you find glimpses of peace as you move forward.

Sorry to learn of Teri’s passing. I had Teri for a class at Denver Technical College in 1997 when I went back to college at age 55. I so enjoyed her. Then more recently I had her resize my mother’s wedding set so that I could wear it. It was fun to see her again after all that time. My sincere condolences.

Teri was excellent at designing jewelry and an all around awesome person. When she talked about her family her face positively glowed. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers for the entire family.

To Teri's family, my deepest sympathies to you at this sad time. Teri and I were friends in school. We shared many good memories - riding our horses, hiking around the pasture looking for our horses, and playing in the school band. She even helped me become a better flute player by giving my lessons. Teri had so many talents - some that I didn't even know of ... she will be sadly missed by many.
