Virginia Stewart Obituary

Virginia Lee Stewart, age 83, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on December 12, 2005 at a local hospice care facility. Virginia was born in Muhlenburg County, KY to Lewis and Carrie (Jones) Underwood. She has been a resident of Colorado Springs for 35 years having moved from Montana. She was a member of the Officers Wives Club and Ladies Auxiliary at Penrose. She was married to John W. Stewart on August 17, 1944 in Macon, GA. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and a son, Michael. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Burkel of Colorado Springs; a brother, Allen Underwood of Quincy, PA.; and her grandchildren: Kristen Herman of Denver, Kimberly Burkel of Mesa, AZ, Heather Strausser of South Bend, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, CO  80903. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C; 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO, with Rev. Anthony Garnica officiating.

Sandy, I did your Mom's hair for a number of years, and was so sorry to hear of her death. I lost my Mother last year at Thanksgiving, I know what you are feeling. Your Mom was a great women,who was always there for others. She will be missed.
