Walter Lucas Obituary

Lucas, Jr.
Walter G.
Lucas, Jr.
March 11, 2023

Jacksonville --- Walter (Wally) G. Lucas, Jr, beloved husband, father, and pop-pop, past away on March 11,2023 after a brief illness. He was taken off life support to complete his journey home while being surrounded by his family who treasured him the most. It is difficult to summarize a person's life and capture the essence in a couple of paragraphs. Wally was a man of profound integrity and character. He had a strong belief in God, country, and his family, Wally was a man who never faltered from his beliefs. He graduated from Grove City College (ROTC) in 1974 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant to serve in the U.S. Air Force. His career started as a C-141 navigator but shortly thereafter and due to ear issues, his career field changed to serving as a Security Police Officer. He served from 1974-1994. Wally's hobbies included golf, war history, music, and comedy. He had the uncanny ability to see humor in all situations, you just " had to get it." He was born to Walter and Alice Lucas in Wilmington, Delaware on June 14,1952 and was raised in Pennsville, New Jersey. They have preceded him in death along with his sisters Cindy Sepulveda (2010) and Mary Jane Mesogianes (2022). Wally leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Coleen Lucas; daughter: Erin Young; son: Kurtis Lucas, and grandson: Lucas Young. The shearing and gut wrenching pain that is experienced by family is unfathomable but as time passes by, we are certain our plethora of memories will turn into soft and comforting memories. As a family, it has been a gift and an honor to share Wally's life and claim him as our own. "Daddy, pop's, sweetheart..."To Infinity and Beyond!"

Wally Lucas was a great USAF mentor and boss who was true to himself, always. He guided me in my career and personal life, and I will be forever grateful to him. I am still laughing about comments he made over 30 years ago. I´ve never known anyone before or since with such an original sense of humor; he was one-of-a-kind. His life was too short and I´m sorry his family didn´t have more time with him, but I´m certain the times they had were memorable and filled with laughter.

Walter Lucas was the best dam commander I ever served with in my 22yr career. He was my squadron commander at Mountain Home AFB Idaho. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Great man and leader.

Walt was one of my first friends when I moved to Carney's Point, NJ., in 6th grade in 1963 , and we graduated from Penns Grove High School together in 1970. He was smart and witty and very kind. It had been many years since I'd seen him, but it is good to read that he had a wonderful, full life and loving family. Rest in peace, old friend.

I am so sad to hear of Wally's passing. Worked with him at Lexus and HM Brown. He was a fine man with a wicked sense of humor. My deepest condolences.

We are sad to hear about Walter's passing.
As a clients, we knew him briefly from Lexus of Colorado Springs, dealership where several times as a sales manager he put a smile on our faces.
Also, our son was a school mate and golf buddy with Walters son.
RIP
