Charles Anderson Obituary

Charles L. Anderson, retired dentist and beloved father and husband, passed away on April 24, 2016 surrounded by family in his Henderson, NV home. Chuck was born in Harrisburg, PA, on January 23rd, 1946, to Lanoy and Georgia Anderson and the family moved to Colorado when Chuck was seven. Growing up in Chipita Park, he graduated from Manitou Springs High School in 1964. He continued his education at Colorado University, finishing his degree in 1968. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1971 as a Captain in artillery. Chuck pursed his dental degree and graduated in 1976 from Washington University with a DMD. He founded Timberland Dental Care in Woodland Park, CO and provided his patients with excellent dental care until his retirement in 2005. Throughout his career, Chuck was active in his profession: maintaining memberships in the Intermountain Dental Society, The Colorado Prosthodontics Society, and as a Fellow in The Academy of General Dentistry.

Chuck loved nature and embraced the many outdoor sports Colorado has to offer. He often shared in these activities with his children and grandchildren, taking them along while enjoying riding dirt bikes, ATV four wheelers, deep powder snowmobiling, skiing and golf. He loved geocaching with his wife Pegge and good friends, logging thousands of geocaches as Doc4001.

Chuck was an avid scuba diver and dove mostly in the Caribbean Islands. As a Denver Bronco fan, he proudly wore the orange and blue and celebrated their 2016 Super Bowl win. His woodworking shop gave him hours of enjoyment. Community service was an important part of Chuck's life. He was a Life Scout and a Scout leader after dental school. He was a member of the Woodland Park Lions Club International. Chuck was on the Woodland Park City Planning Commission and served as a trustee for Pikes Peak Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents (Lanoy and Georgia) and his brother (Bill). He is survived by his wife, Pegge, and three daughters: Lisa Pixley (Spencer) Colorado Springs, Co; Zena Vincent (Darrel), South Ogden, UT; Amy Castaneda (Tom), Henderson, NV; four grandchildren, Audrey, Robert, Lance and Kyla; his sister Judy Rawlins (Ace); Sister-in -law Betsy; nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Memorial service will be held on July 30th at 3:00pm at Church of the Wildwood in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital or to the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter.
