Daniel Toner Obituary

Dan Toner quietly succumbed to an extended illness at the home of his parents where he was on hospice care for the past two months. He was born at Vandenberg AFB hospital, California on December 5, 1961. As a member of a military family, he lived in four states and three countries in Europe before he finished high school in Germany. He believed that moving provided him with the best education and he loved to travel throughout the remainder of his life. He studied hospitality management at Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio, a field in which he worked for most of his life in both restaurants and hotels. Dan was an ardent sportsman, both as a participant and as a fan and considered fly fishing a glimpse of heaven. Dan was a life-long member of Red Sox Nation, and watched the Sox play whenever he could. As skilled chef and brewer, he liked nothing better than entertaining his many friends. He met his true love, Anne Marshall, while they both worked at hotels in Lenox, Massachusetts. They were married aboard a cruise ship in 1996. She was a lovely English lass, so they married again in both England and Lenox. They settled in Colorado Springs in 1999 where they lived and worked until 2006 when they moved back to England to manage a pub near Oxford. In addition to his loving wife, Anne, Dan leaves his father, Richard Toner and his wife, DixieLee. His mother, Joan Toner, predeceased him in 2008. He also leaves a brother, Scott Toner of Stafford, Virginia, and sister, Christine Moody, of Colorado Springs, along with a host of friends and relatives. Following cremation, Dan's life was celebrated at a private family gathering. In lieu of any other remembrance, a donation to Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs would be most appreciated.

Dear Dick, Anne, Scott, Chris and DixieLee - My fondest childhood memories are of our great adventures in the woods of Oxon Hill. I was always trying to keep up with my 3 brothers Mike, Jer and Don and it was always Danny who talked them into letting me tag along. He never seemed to mind when I slowed them down and would often lag behind to help me catch up! The summers spent at Bowling AFB pool watching him leap off the high dive; the many soccer games I watched the boys play and the all the fun times we had exploring the nieghborhood - these are are but a few of the memories I hold close to my heart! I will forever remember Danny's gentle, kind spirit and those beautiful blue eyes. All my love and prayers are with you all!
