Obituary of Gregory Vincent Callahan
Gregory Vincent Callahan
November 28, 1949 - September 30, 2023
Greg passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs.
Greg is preceded in death by his father, Vincent Callahan, his mother, Loantha (Peggy) Callahan and his sister, Laurie Reilly.
He is survived by his sisters, Candace (Candy) Harris, Donna R. Allison and Mary Ades, his brother-in-law, Jonathan Reilly and many nieces and nephews and their families, all residing in Colorado.
Greg was in the second graduating class at Mitchell High School and compeated in wrestling and track and field.
Upon graduation, he served in Navy intelligence in Vietnam, Morocco and Spain, a country he loved and often talked about wanting to live there for awhile.
Greg was a highly regarded and successful home appraiser in Minnesota and was often involved in the litigation of his firms court cases.
Whenever he visited Colorado he went out of his way to spend time with his family. Greg had moved, from 40+ years in Minneapolis, back to Colorado Springs to live out his life, sharing a home with two of his sisters.
Greg was a devout Catholic. He attended and volunteered his time at The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. When he returned to Colorado he did the same at Divine Redeemer Church, his childhood parish.
Greg was a fun-loving person, much loved by his family -- he will be missed.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 1:00PM at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N Logan Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Reception will immediately follow the service.

I used to be a family law attorney and used Greg many times for litigation appraisals. His work was always of the highest caliber. Whenever I hired him to critique someone else´s appraisal, he always had really insightful information as to why, specifically, he felt the other appraisal was not accurate. He was wonderful at testifying in court, and I don´t know that I ever had a judge who did not adopt Greg´s value. We became friendly overtime, and I knew he was having some health issues and was considering a move back to Colorado, but I had not heard about his death. I retired a number of years ago, and it was only when I tried contacting him for some personal work, that I learned abouthis death. Greg always went above and beyond, and although his work schedule was blindingly busy, somehow he always managed to find time to do a thorough and accurate appraisal with a really quick turnaround when I needed it. He was a wonderful person and I was so sorry two part of his death.

My deepest sympathy. I am the youngest Callahan Grandchild and Gregory was the oldest. We have a photo of all of us, think 52, from a reunion (oldest to youngest). I was, and still, in awe of my older cousins. My heartfelt condolences to all, Lisa

Greg was our (Chavez family) neighbor on Ron Court. His family was always very kind and caring. He and my older brother Buddy became close friends. My brother's death in 1969 was not only hard on my family but the Callahan family as well. My deepest condolences go out to Candy, Donna, Mary and all who loved him.
