Jane Ellen Vosika, age 86, passed away on October 21, 2024. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jane Ellen Baumgardner was born on August 7, 1938, in Portland Oregon, where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Grant High School and received a full scholarship to Colorado Women's College in Denver, attaining her Associate's Degree in Education. She married the love of her life, Eugene Vosika, on June 3, 1959 - The same day of his commencement from the first graduating class at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Jane was a devoted wife and mother who supported her husband throughout his Air Force career. She was very involved in the Officer's Wives Club and various volunteer organizations. She was also a wonderful, loving mother who spent endless hours supporting her daughters in Girl Scouts, sporting interests, and youth clubs. She even ran her first marathon at 60 so her daughter, Cheryl, wouldn't have to run alone. She was always there to encourage them, no matter their challenges.
Always looking for opportunities to nurture her love of fashion modeling, she would find work in front of a camera or teaching at a finishing school close to the base where they were stationed. As her girls grew up and left to start their own careers, she taught at Barbizon Modeling School for many years before her desire to travel led her to become a travel agent. And travel she did, all over the world with her husband and friends by her side.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Eugene Vosika, her adoring daughters Dawn Maloney, Cheryl Collins and husband Brian; grandchildren Danika Reddick, Christopher Reddick and wife Karissa, Quinn Maloney, and Cody Collins. Her memory will be cherished.
Services will be held at Highland Congregational Church on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Highland Senior Center, PO BOX 1231 Highland, CA 92346.
Services will be held at the U.S. Air Force Academy Cemetery on June 3, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sjogren's Foundation, at www.Sjogren's.org, a non-profit organization for research and support for those suffering from Sjogren's Syndrome.
