John Borchert Obituary

Borchert
JOHN REYNOLDS BORCHERT
December 4, 1945 January 2, 2019
John Reynolds Borchert passed away suddenly in his home on Jan 2, 2019. He was a fourth generation native of Colorado Springs, born on December 4th, 1945. He was also known to his friends as Renny, Dutch and JR. He attended Cheyenne Grade School, graduated from Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York and earned an Electrical Engineering degree at Colorado State University in 1969. After graduating from college, he began work as an engineer for the aerospace division of TRW located on north Nevada Avenue. In the evenings and in his spare time, Renny built radios and test equipment. He also designed and built several relay logic systems (the precursor to PLCs) that controlled the operations of long conveyor belts and the milling and drilling machines for steel I-beams used in high rise buildings which include the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and buildings in South America and London. In addition, Renny installed audio, video and security systems in homes of friends and neighbors. In 1974, Renny and Rusty Griffith formed LVW Electronics, a company focused on providing electronic systems for commercial businesses and the military. LVW provided many high-profile installations at venues such as the Pepsi Center, Ralph Carr Judicial Center, Pikes Peak Center, numerous Marriott Hotels, the Colorado Convention Center, Mobil Oil and many military facilities. The company currently has long term projects in 40 states, which include Alaska and Hawaii, Japan and Korea.
His favorite activities included golf, remote controlled airplanes, and drones. Renny was a generous person and supported numerous charities with anonymous donations. Renny had a wonderful sense of humor and many lifelong friends. Renny is survived by his wife Sarah, her son Chad. His immediate relatives include his sister Annwin Sather, his niece Pauline Sisson and his nephew Mark Sather.

So very sorry for your families loss. I remember Renny as a smiling man and really being a helpful guy. He & Rusty hired me in 1988/89 but I then moved back to NY. Moved back to CO couple years ago and wanted to go visit, just never made the time. I enjoyed the knowledge he shared and his passion for his work. Wishing you peace in this time of pain.

It is with a heavy heart I write this condolence to Renny. I have known him for over 50 years and I consider him a good friend. He had many of those, and I have never met anyone who didn't like Renny. His sense of humor was one of a kind as was Renny. We have lost another one of the "old Broadmoor crowd". Rest in peace dear friend.
