John Hitlin Obituary

John, lately of Canon City, passed quietly at Emeritus Assisted Living in Colorado Springs. Beloved husband of Ellie and father of Marlene, Nancy, Susan and Patricia; grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 16, John significantly impacted this world. He retired from the Air Force, worked at the Colorado Deaf and Blind School, was a counselor with Colorado Mental Health, and was an expert wood carver, with many of his woodcarvings being seen around the world. He particularly enjoyed the weekly meetings with the Arkansas River Carvers. John will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, his family and his many friends. Born February 8, 1931 in the Bronx, New York, John traveled the world, met his wife in Germany, retired from the Air Force in Colorado Springs, and enjoyed living in Maine and Colorado. We give special thanks to Pikes Peak Hospice for their wonderful care during his last days. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 16 May, at 11:00AM at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs 80904. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
