Lyman Van Der Wege Obituary

Lyman James Van Der Wege, age 93, a long-time Colorado Springs resident, passed away on May 9, 2006. Lyman was born in Prairie View, Kansas on December 28, 1912, a son of the late Edward and Della Harbers Van Der Wege. Lyman married Vera Heavens on January 14, 1934. She preceded him in death on September 26, 1987. Lyman was a retired fireman from the Myron Stratton Home. He loved wood working and making wooden cars, trucks, airplanes and chimes. He is survived by four children; Russell (Virginia) Van Der Wege of Colorado Springs, Virginia Van Der Wege of Redlands, CA., Phyllis Volgamore of Norton, KS., and Gloria (Bob)Anderson of Condon, OR.; one sister, Faye Cope of California; three brothers: Veryl Van Der Wege of Norton, KS and Wendel Van Der Wege and Dale Van Der Wege both of Colorado Springs; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Oliver; and three sisters: Nettie, Alice and Bernice; and one grandson, Christopher. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2006 at Blunt Mortuary. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m.. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Blunt Mortuary Chapel 2229 W. Colorado Ave. Colorado Springs, CO. 80904. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO.
