Michael Woolley Obituary

Woolley
Michael Roger Woolley
November 12, 2024

At 80 years, 10 months and 12 days, Mike declared "I have had one HELL of a GREAT LIFE, THANK YOU MOM!! In that spirit, Mike made the decision to end his life on 11/12/2024. The final gift of his life was donation of his body to Science Care for potential medical benefit to others. There will be no calling hours or funeral, Mike's cremains will be scattered in nature per his request. As his sister, I hope you celebrate Mike's life in a way that honors him and your relationship with him.
Passionate about engines, he spent his life studying, building, servicing and repairing them, achieving Certified Master Mechanic. He became a talented expert in small engine, motorcycle, automobile, small airplane and helicopter. He owned and operated all except a helicopter. Mike was well known in Colorado Springs as a winning stock car driver, building his own cars with the help of his brother Steve and many others. He also built cars for drivers of the famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb and NASCAR circuit.
Mike loved the Colorado mountains and spent a lifetime fishing, camping and trail riding in them. He also loved motorcycle road trips on both Harley and BMW machines—the greatest and final one being a solo trip to the Panama Canal in 2017. Our beloved Uncle Jim Woolley had helped to build that canal and Mike had always wanted to go there.
Mike was born, raised, lived and worked in Colorado Springs for many years, including owning his own automotive repair shops. He attained his High School equivalency and graduated with Associates Degree at Pikes Peak Community College. After relocating to Ft. Collins to attain his Bachelor's Degree (which he dedicated to his MOM), he briefly taught high school automotive, then founded Easy Chair Mower Repair and successfully operated it for 20+ years.
Family members who predeceased Mike include: father Merle; mother Mildred; brother Steve; daughter Michelle Woolley Meyer; and daughter Monique Woolley.
Living family members are: Carole Woolley Bildstein, sister; Martin and John Bildstein, children of Carole and Ron Bildstein; Ron Bildstein, brother in law; Christopher Woolley, son; Christin Woolley and Tommy Woolley, children of Christopher; former spouse Julie Roberts; Gary Meyer, son in law and the three children of Michelle and Gary, Amanda Meyer Yao, Michael Meyer and Zoe Meyer; Julianne (daughter of Julie Roberts) and James Williamson and their children Ryane, Jacob, Trinity and Emily; and 10 cousins across the United States.
To his friends, colleagues, customers and acquaintances, he was grateful for your enrichment of his life. And a heartfelt THANK YOU to all First Responders of Larimer County Sheriff's Department, Coroner's Office and Fire Fighters who responded at Mike's death.
Mike chose this as his epitaph:
From too much love of living, from hope and fear set free, We pause with brief thanksgiving, to whatever gods may be, That no life lives forever, that dead men rise up never, And even the wearied river, winds somewhere out to sea.

Very sorry you have passed, Mike! We were good friends since the early 1960's, riding dirt bikes, fishing and racing. I'll never forget you and the good times. Rest in peace, Mike!
