Scott Alan Bumgardner was born on June 6, 1960 in Colorado Springs. He was a 1978 graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School where he excelled at football and baseball. Scott graduated from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He began his life work in newspaper marketing and sales with the Colorado Springs Gazette. This was followed by continued success at Rocky Mountain News, the Metro North Newspapers, and the Denver Post. Scott is survived by his mother, Marlene Kensinger of Colorado Springs and his former wife Christine Ryan. He was predeceased by his father, Harold Bumgardner. Scott took special joy in his dogs Bear, Tucker and Jordan; and donations in Scott's name to organizations protecting animals would be welcome. Scott was an honest and honorable man and will be missed.

Scott, you will be missed. I remember our years at the Rocky Mountain News and even when you got your Jeep Wrangler. I enjoyed running into you over the years. Rest In Peace my old friend.

I am so sorry to hear about Scott. In high school, he was always a friend and was fun & witty. We lost contact for many years, but reconnected about five years ago. We were both fighting different cancer journeys, but would chat from afar about similar health battles. Glad to know his suffering has ended. RIP Scott

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Scott and I enjoyed our times together as younger men and lately some good conversations after reconnecting in 2017. I know he battled in a honorable way to keep his body from failing. Hoping the family is comforted at this time knowing he enjoyed a good sense of humor and he never lost his "kid at heart" mentality. Sincerely, Hutch
