Robert Allen Kunau, age 81, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Robert was born April 15, 1941, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Henry and Mary Kunau. Bob was the youngest of nine children and was raised in Colorado; graduating from Colorado Springs high school.
After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army but was later medically discharged due to his eyesight.
Bob met and married Ronda Huffer at Calvary Temple Christian in Denver, Colorado and they later had two children, Andrea and Miles Kunau.
He was a realtor for many years in Denver. In August of 1989 he and Ronda moved their family to Arizona so he could participate in the Business Enterprise Program. This initiative was developed for the blind to own their own merchandising businesses.
Bob found the greatest enjoyment in spending time with his family and traveling to Colorado frequently to visit extended family. He loved the experience of being outdoors in the Rocky Mountains; feeling the warmth of the sunshine, going for long walks, and fishing on his nephew's boat.
By birth he was of course a fan of the Denver Broncos, but he also cheered for the Arizona Cardinals and the Diamondbacks. He loved woodworking, and even though he was blind he didn't let that stop him. He created many things over the years; bookshelves for the house, treehouses that he built for the backyard, and numerous other things. He also loved horses and anything that was part of the 'Wild, Wild, West'.
On the weekends you would find him doing his other favorite things; making burgers on the grill and voicing his strong passion for politics. Bob also loved Jesus, and attended Grace Community Church in Tempe, Arizona for 30 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ronda Kunau and their children; Andrea Kunau and Miles Kunau, grandchildren; Mackenzie Kucera and MJ Kunau. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings; Elaine Clifford, Albert Kunau, Harold Kunau, numerous nieces and nephews, and great granddaughter Eden Espinoza.
A celebration of life for Robert will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S Dobson Rd, Mesa, Arizona 85202. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.LakeshoreMort.com for the Kunau family.
